In a bid to aggressively halt any spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Ministry of Tourism has closed several popular beach facilities under its direct responsibility across the island until further notice.

The Maracas Beach Facility, Las Cuevas Beach Facility, the Manzanilla Beach Facility and the Vessingy Beach Facility have been ordered closed.

This means the car parks and other facilities at these locations will not be available to the public.

The Ministry of Tourism said the decision was taken following the Government’s “recommended guidelines out of the COVID-19 global pandemic.”

The ministry said it regretted the inconvenience but said it was necessary to safeguard the “health, safety and well being of all users of the facilities,” who remained their highest priority.

The Tourism Ministry’s statement reminded beachgoers that there are “inherent hazards associated with the visiting and usage of beaches and therefore the general public is reminded to avoid risks and to take responsibility for their personal safety.”
