Four men charged with robbery with violence appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie yesterday at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court. Two of the men were granted $200,000 bail each while the other two were remanded into custody.

Four men who were charged with robbery with violence appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie yesterday at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court. SANJAY KUNGISINGH, 32, of Chaguanas was granted $200,000 bail with a surety or $20,000 cash.

He was also placed under a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. ZULTHIKAR SALIM, 64, of Charlieville was granted $200,000 bail with a surety and also placed under a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. Both MARIO KAMAL SLANEY, 41, of Chase Village and RYAN JAGDEO, 37, of Woodland were remanded in custody.

The matter was adjourned to February 8th 2022. According to police reports, around 7:45 pm on Friday 7th January, 2022, a Cunupia resident was driving his vehicle north along Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas, when he was allegedly accosted by two men after he slowed down due to traffic. He was allegedly dealt several blows about his body and forcibly removed from the vehicle. The suspects then relieved him of the vehicle valued at $45,000, along with a cell phone valued at $5,000.

Investigations conducted by officers of the Chaguanas CID and Central Division Task Force (CDTF) revealed that there were two additional suspects allegedly involved in the planning of the incident. On Saturday 8th January, 2022, four men were arrested and police recovered the vehicle and cell phone. The men were charged with robbery with violence by PC Baksh of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday 10th January, 2022.
