A Crime Scene investigator searches for evidence following the murder of Kendall John at his River Valley Road home in La Retreat, Arima, yesterday.

Homicide detectives were kept busy yesterday with four murders being recorded in north and central Trinidad.

According to reports, the first murder occurred around 12.45 am at Cipriani Avenue, Second Caledonia, Morvant.

Officers of the North Eastern Division led by Inspector Sunil Bharath responded to a report of a shooting in the community and were met by the brother of 43-year-old Ronnie Samuel, who was shot several times.

Samuel’s brother, who lives nearby, told police that he heard his brother had been shot and found him lying unconscious in the yard with gunshot wounds.

The officers took Samuel to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Less than two hours later, police responded to the scene of a shooting at Temple Street in Arima.

Police said around 3 am, two men dressed in camouflage clothing and armed with firearms broke into Jose Mariano Acosta Bella’s home.

After robbing Bella and his relatives of their cash and cellphones, the men had an argument with Bella. They shot Bella several times in his chest before escaping. Bella was taken to the Arima District Hospital and died while undergoing emergency surgery.

The third murder occurred around 9.25 am at La Retreat Road in Arima.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Kendell John, was at his home with his wife and two children when a blue Hyundai Tucson with two occupants stopped in front of his property. The men asked if John had a motor for a refrigerator for sale and he came outside to speak with them.

While speaking with the driver, the passenger got out of the car and shot John several times. The men then returned to the vehicle and drove off.

The last incident reportedly occurred yesterday afternoon at Esmeralda Road in Cunupia.

Darrius Roberts and Jabal Gibson were shot several times. Roberts succumbed to his injuries on the scene and Gibson was taken to hospital, where he remained warded up to late yesterday.

Investigations are continuing.
