Government intends to lay the bill to make amendments to the Public Procurement Act in Parliament. This is according to Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and Senator Clarence Rambharat in the senate yesterday in reponse to a question by opposition senator Wade Mark.

“The government promises to deal with having in place this new procurement regime. But I close by saying there currently exists a procurement regime used by my friends when they were in government and used by us with all the oversight mechanisms in place including oversight by this parliament,” he said while summing up his response to Senator Mark.

Mark asked why the bill had not met its proposed March deadline for its ammended form to be laid and debated in the Parliament.
