The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has lost another officer to COVID-19.

Acting sergeant Lisa Felix, who was admitted at the Couva Hospital after testing positive, died at the Couva Hospital yesterday.

Felix was last attached to the Gender-Based Violence Unit at Sangre Grande Police Station.

Felix, a mother of five of Oropune Gardens, Piarco, was fully vaccinated but tested positive after she went to get a test for COVID-19 after complaining of feeling unwell. She was subsequently taken to the Couva Hospital where she was warded and died a few days later.

Felix also has a son who is also a member of TTPS and is at present attached to the Sangre Grande Police Traffic Branch Unit.

The untimely death of Felix has thrown her colleagues attached to Sangre Grande Police Station and by extension, the Eastern Division, into mourning.

WPC Charles yesterday described Felix as quiet, humble and always willing to share her experience with her juniors. Charles said Felix loved children and took the responsibility to take care of some of them, especially those who were experiencing trouble and whose parents were unable to take care of them.

ASP Dave Revanales meanwhile said Felix took her work seriously and never gave in to parents who ill-treated their children when they had their issues.

“She was very dedicated and always accepted her responsibility as an officer in charge of Gender-Based Violence at Eastern Division,” Revanales said.

Felix is the second officer attached to Sangre Grande Police Station to die of COVID-19. They also lost Marcus Henry, who was attached to Sangre Grande Task Force, to the virus.
