The Minister of Social Development and Family Services, along with members of the Ministry’s Family Service Division, will visit the daughter and relatives of slain Prison Officer, Nigel Jones, at a date and time to be determined.

Jones was gunned down in the presence of his six-year-old daughter in Siparia, yesterday.

Speaking in the Senate this morning, Minister Donna Cox said: “Grief counselling is absolutely necessary.”

Minister Cox said her Ministry also will work closely with the Children’s Authority and the Victim and Witness Support Unit of the Police Service, to provide further support to the family.
