Bail in the sum of $75,000 with approval has been granted to a supermarket owner charged with three crimes against a minor.

Sham Mohammed, of Rochard Road, Penal, was also granted a cash bail alternative of $35,000 when he appeared via video link Senior Magistrate Margaret Alert.

During the virtual hearing, the magistrate read the charges to him which included indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl last year, hiring a minor under the age of 16, and not registering a minor. He was not called upon to plead to the charges.

Mohammed was charged after the police conducted investigations into a report which was made on April 24.

Mohammed was charged by WPC McGregor of the Child Protection Unit.

His attorney, Jeevan Rampersad asked for reasonable bail.

The magistrate granted him bail on the condition that he has no contact with the girl. The matter was adjourned to June 20.
