Gun, ammo found in bushes in St Barbs

A firearm fitted with a magazine containing several rounds of ammunition was recovered and seized at Laventille, during an anti-crime exercise on Thursday.

According to a police report, members of the Port of Spain Divisional Task Force carried out the anti-crime exercise between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm, in the St Barbs area. It was coordinated by ACP Nurse, Snr Supt Moor, Supt Brandon John, Asst Supt Cumberbatch, supervised by Sgt Alexander, Cpl Huggins, Cpl St Bernard and Cpl Duncan.

Reports are that during the exercise, the officers searched a bushy area in St Barbs where they found one firearm fitted with magazine containing 23 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

No one was arrested in connection with this find.
