Police arrested one man and seized a firearm duing an operation.
The suspect was held after a failed attempt to elude police on mobile patrol.
Around 9.45 pm on Tuesday Constables James and Johnson were on mobile patrol in St Joseph Police in a marked police vehicle when they received information that a man driving a white and green Mazda Familia vehicle was armed with a gun.
Checks were made and the officers intercepted the vehicle a short while
later, however, the driver failed to stop and a chase ensued.
The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Curepe man, subsequently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall on Watts Street, Curepe, and was detained.
Police searched the vehicle and one Glock 17 pistol with an extended magazine containing 21 nine-millimetre rounds of ammunition were found and seized.
