Eager to escape the stress of the pandemic, scores of clients visited spas, hair salons and barbers, as the industry reopened for business today.

At Hair Politics Salon in San Fernando, stylist Jowelle De Souza said she was happy for the reopening.

She said during the lockdown many families faced extreme hardship. Her staff came out many days during the lockdown to prepare meals for poor families.

De Souza said she was fortunate to be in a position to support her staff during the lockdown.

She also said her staff had been fully vaccinated. Their immunization cards had been placed for public viewing on the wall. De Souza said she has also been on an aggressive pro-vaccination campaign so that T&T could finally attain herd immunity.

Nail technician Amelia De Leon said she experienced hardship during the lockdown but was thankful for the support of her husband Anthony.

She called on the government to provide small loans with zero-interest for floundering businesses.
