High energy swells are forecast to impact nearshore areas of Tobago and northern coastlines of Trinidad beginning at 11:00 PM tonight and persist through 5:00 PM Thursday 10th December 2020.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued a Hazardous Seas Alert #1 – Yellow Level for both T&T on Tuesday afternoon.

The TTMS advises, “North-easterly high energy swells are expected to impact nearshore areas along coastlines of Tobago and Northern coastlines of Trinidad. These swells can result in higher surfs and occasional battering waves.”

Long period swells have been affecting T&T over the last several days, with larger waves affecting the usually tranquil areas of Store Bay, Tobago. Large waves have also been reported at Maracas Bay over the weekend.

All marine interests are advised to carefully monitor the nearshore coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along affected areas.
