The Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation (HDC) says they are working on the vandalism issue at Oasis Gardens, Chaguanas.  The housing units are allocated to deserving persons and are not abandoned. Details follow in this press release from HDC:

The Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is working to address the situation at Oasis Gardens, Chaguanas. The housing units identified are not abandoned but are allocated to deserving persons on our public housing database. These persons are currently awaiting the finalization of their mortgages. However, this process is prolonged because of malicious mischief of persons who continually deface private property.

The HDC acknowledges the issue and would be taking a zero-tolerance approach to vandalism and theft in all its communities. The HDC will be ramping up its verification exercises and security patrols and will be working with the relevant authorities to identify similar breaches and persons who engage in these illegal activities.

The HDC continues to work assiduously to provide suitable and affordable accommodation to the many individuals and families on the public housing database.
