A middle-aged male without any comorbidities is among four COVID-19 deaths recorded in the country over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll up to 1,555 locally.

According to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, the other fatalities were an elderly male, an elderly female and a middle-aged male with comorbidities.

An additional 119 new infections were also confirmed by the ministry from samples collected between October 7 and 10. This makes 52,847 people to be confirmed with the disease since March 12, 2020.

Active cases decreased to 4,301 after 201 people recovered over the last 24 hours. Of these, 180 people were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases while 21 people were discharged from public health facilities. Among the 271 people who remained hospitalised, 13 and 11 were warded in the HDU and ICU respectively of the Couva Medical and Multi-Training Facility.

Up to 4 pm yesterday, 547,884 people were fully vaccinated.
