An anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, and the seizure of several grammes of cocaine and marijuana, as well as of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

The exercise was conducted between midday and 3:30 pm on Saturday 15th August 2020.

According to official police reports, several searches were carried out during the exercise.

An official release from the TTPS states that one man from El Socorro was arrested for 17 grams of cocaine, while another man from Morvant was arrested for 160 grams of marijuana.

While continuing their searches in an abandoned lot in Saw Mill Avenue, Morvant, the officers found and seized one BushmasterXM15 Assault Rifle, with one magazine and ten rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

And during another search under a bridge at Ward Land Extension, the officers found and seized 114 grams of marijuana.  No one was arrested for this find.

Investigations are ongoing.

The anti-crime exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Phillip, Supt Maynard Wilson, Supt Alexander and Insp Ramsingh, and supervised by Sgt Martin, Cpls Daniel and Duncan.
