Police are investigating reports of sacrilege at the St Francis Shrine Church of the All Saints in Claxton Bay.

The incident occurred sometime between Sunday 13th and Tuesday 15th June 2021.

According to a police report, Bishop Junior Bernard said that at about 6:30 pm on Sunday, he secured his church by locking all the doors and windows before he left the premises. He told police he returned around 10 am on Tuesday and saw that the screws on the front door were removed.

He subsequently made checks and observed that several items were missing—three boxes of candles valued at $900, along with one 18-inch metal pot, one 14-inch pot and a quantity of wares (value to be ascertained).

Bishop Bernard told police he had not given permission to anyone to remove the items.

Investigations are continuing.
