Reigning joint Soca Monarch and Road March Champions and ambassadors of Caribbean culture, KES are taking Soca to the mainstream this weekend as they share their first new full-length album in over five years today.

Entitled We Home, this live project is being released and distributed on Ineffable Records and sees the band of brothers taking Soca music to all the mainstream platforms and media outlets in the USA, the UK and via various self-curated and hosted playlists, interviews, performances and promotional appearances.

On We Home, KES has breathed new life into its catalog of Carnival hits and island pop jams with fresh renditions showcasing their prowess as a live band par excellence. KES’ new album arrives with an unprecedented level of digital support for a project within the realm of soca, which has been one of the most overlooked music genres by DSPs. KES’ new management has pulled out all the stops to put this release in groundbreaking territory—making it both visible and available across the globe, while simultaneously being promoted among all the major music retailers and media outlets:

Spotify has made KES the face of its new Soca Classics playlist, launched this week as part of its Carnival Sounds microsite. YouTube Music recently selected KES to cover and lead off its freshly-minted Caribbean Pulse playlist.

Yesterday (Thursday) on Apple Music, Ebro Darden premiered the fourth and final We Home single—a new version of last year’s Carnival anthem Savannah Grass (which is being officially released today) on the newly-rebranded Apple Music 1 radio station.

Today, KES continues to smash barriers as they will be seen moving across The Big Apple performing as part of Angela Yee Day, a virtual music showcase streaming on The Breakfast Club’s YouTube channel—and on mobile truck screens riding through New York City from noon to 8 pm.

Come Monday, August 31—Independence Day—KES will present a one-hour TV special, KES LIVE, airing across ten Caribbean countries in partnership with CCN TV6. The broadcast will also be simulcast in Africa on Trace TV; on Kes’ YouTube channel at youtube.com/keslive.

Kes the Band is a popular Caribbean pop/soca group known for a unique blend of soulful vocals, calypso-inspired melodies, rock riffs and island beats.

We Home represents the first foray into soca from Ineffable Music—a multi-faceted Oakland-based music company that owns and operates venues and festivals, including North America’s biggest reggae concert, Cali Roots Fest; and manages and releases music from artistes like Stick Figure and Collie Buddz. It is also the first album by a major soca act on a US record label in over three years. KES says that: “We Home was created to fill a void for soca music at a time when Covid-19 has put the communal Carnival celebrations and fetes that are the genre’s raison d’etre on pause for the foreseeable future.”

Mixed by renowned engineer Dexter Simmons (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston), it is the first major soca release since the outbreak began and an effort by KES to create a time capsule of their sound and genre in 2020, and reconnect with their roots as eclectic and musically unpredictable performers.
