A 23-year-old labourer of La Romain was granted $210,000 bail with a surety, after pleading not guilty before a Siparia Magistrate on two robbery charges.

JAMAAL MATTHEWS appeared virtually before Siparia Magistrate Aden Stroude yesterday, Monday 24th August, 2020, charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation, in connection with two incidents earlier this month—one in Fyzabad; the other in South Oropouche.

According to official police reports, Matthews was arrested on Thursday 20th August 2020 by officers of the Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID), following extensive enquiries by the officers into reports of robbery with aggravation:

  • Firstly, at Simple Supermarket, Southern Main Road, South Oropouche on Sunday 2nd August, 2020; and
  • Secondly, at Three Roads Bar, Mon Desir, Delhi Road, Fyzabad, on Tuesday 4th August 2020.

He subsequently was charged with robbery with aggravation.

Jamaal Matthews is scheduled to reappear in court on Monday 21st September 2020.
