A Laventille man who was set on fire on April 12th, succumbed to his injuries on Friday April 16th, at about 9 am.

Guardian Media understands that police investigators are yet to establish a motive behind the incident which led to the death of the victim—Curtis Isadore Williams, of La Horquette Lane, Laventille.

Police said a woman told them that on April 10th at about 4 am, she was awakened by loud banging on her door.  She opened the door and saw her uncle, Williams (of the same address), suffering from burns about his body.

He reportedly told her, “Somebody burn meh!”.  With the assistance of a neighbour, Williams’ niece took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) where he was warded.

However, at 9 am on Friday April 16th, Williams succumbed to his injuries from the fire, and was pronounced dead.

A motive is yet to be established.

Investigations are ongoing.
