A Laventille man was granted bail for $150,000 when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate this week via video conferencing.
Terry Murrel was charged with Assault by Beating and Grievous Sexual assault.
Murrel, 45, a maxi-driver, of Boxhill Trace, Laventille, was granted bail with surety to cover both charges when he appeared before the Magistrate on Wednesday.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 29th April 2020.
According to police reports, the victim reported to police that on Monday 24th March 2020, she and the accused got into a heated argument, during which he held her by the throat and sexually assaulted her.
Investigations were supervised by W/ASP Guy-Alleyne, W/Insp. (Ag.) Bridglal and Sgt. Aroon, of the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU), Port of Spain.
Murrell was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident on Tuesday 31st March 2020, by WPC Cooper of the GBVU.
