Locals and Venezuelans held with illegal wildlife and weapons

Police officers in Moruga arrested four people—two Trinidadians and two Venezuelans—this morning, for being in possession of wildlife and weaponry.

Police officers in Moruga arrested four people—two Trinidadians and two Venezuelans—this morning, for being in possession of wildlife and weaponry.

According to a release from the Police Service, the suspects were caught with six monkeys, a gun and ammunition.

The TTPS reports that officers were on mobile patrol along Lance Mitan Road, Moruga, when around 1 am, they stopped a black Cube motor vehicle with four male occupants. A search of the vehicle was conducted.

They allegedly found a Smith and Wesson nine-millimetre pistol with 32 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition were. An additional search was conducted resulting in the discovery of six monkeys.

The four occupants in the vehicle—two Venezuelans, 20 and 46 years, along with two Trinidadians, 32 and 56 years—subsequently were arrested.

Investigations are ongoing.
