A Lopinot man is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the 2019 murder of Antonio Richards.
Dillon Sutherland, aka ‘Ratty’, 32, of Surrey Village, was charged with the offence following advice from acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Joan Honore-Paul March 16th.
According to police reports, Richards, 20, of Campbell Lane, Arouca, was involved in an altercation with a group of men on December 12th 2019 during which the assailants armed themselves with bottles and bricks and hit him about the body.
During the incident, Richards was fatally shot. The men then fled the scene. Sutherland was arrested on Saturday 13th March, 2021 by officers of the Gender-Based Violence Unit in the Arouca district and handed over to Homicide Bureau of Investigations, (HBI) Region 2, officers. Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas, while Sutherland was charged by PC Jerome Barker, also of HBI Region 2.
