Man, 36, ordered to stay away from girl, 11

Keron Thomas, 36 was granted $100,000 bail when he appeared before a Point Fortin Magistrate charged with sexual penetration, false imprisonment, and unlawful detention of an 11-year-old girl. He was also ordered to stay 100 feet away from the her. The following is a press release from the TTPS:

A 36-year old man has appeared before a Point Fortin Magistrate to answer the charges of sexual penetration, false imprisonment, and unlawful detention of an 11-year-old girl. KERON THOMAS, also known as ‘Mootie’ appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar, where he pleaded not guilty and was granted $100,000 bail. He was also ordered to keep 100 feet away from the girl and to report to his local police station once per week.

He is expected to reappear before the court on September 17th. On June 29th, a report was made at the Point Fortin Police Station which alleged that THOMAS had sexual intercourse with a child at his home. An investigation was launched by Cpl (Ag), Callender of the SouthWestern Division Child Protection Unit. Information was gathered and KERON THOMAS of, Salazar Trace, Point Fortin, was arrested and charged on August 19th. The investigation was supervised by W/Superintendent Claire GuyAlleyne, Insp (Ag.) Knutt and W/Sgt (Ag.) Charles.
