Man, 39, charged with murder

Idris Mohammed, of JoJo Lane, San Juan, was charged with the murder of Omar Baksh. He will appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate charged with the offence. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:

A San Juan man is expected to appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Omar Baksh, which occurred on Wednesday 16th February, 2022.

IDRIS MOHAMMED, 39, of JoJo Lane, San Juan, was charged with the offence, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Tuesday 8th March, 2022.

Baksh, aka ‘Mohammed’, ‘Crutches’ and ‘One Foot’, of no fixed place of abode, was found with injuries to his body, in the San Juan district, on Wednesday 16th February, 2022. He was taken for treatment at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he died on the same date.

The accused was arrested in the San Juan district by PC Ali of the North Eastern Division’s Emergency Response Patrol Unit.

Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas, Insps. Ramjag and John and W/Insp. Sylvester, all of the HBI Region 2.

Mohammed, was charged by Cpl (Ag.) Gordon, also of HBI Region2, on Tuesday 8th March, 2022.
