A man was robbed along the Brian Lara Promenade over the weekend by a man who attacked him with a screwdriver.
According to a police report, at about 11:50 pm on Saturday, the victim (who is from St Helena) was seated on a bench on the Brian Lara Promenade in the vicinity of Dairy Queen, when he was approached by an unknown suspect, armed with a screwdriver. The man reportedly demanded that the victim hand over his Samsung A 20 cell phone, valued at $ 2,000.
The victim refused and a struggle ensued during which the suspect dealt him two stabs about the chest area.
The suspect then grabbed the cell phone and escaped by running south along Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain.
Investigations are ongoing.
