A 26-year-old Cocorite man will appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today charged with one count of cruelty to a child.
The man was arrested on September 23rd was charged with the offence yesterday, following an enquiry into an alleged assault which occurred on the day of his arrest.
According to police reports, the eight-year-old victim told police while he was asleep the accused allegedly used tie straps and bounded his hand, he then dealt him several kicks and cuffs about his body causing him injuries.
His twin brother also witnessed the event. WPC Bentick-George, of the Western Division Child Protection Unit, further investigated the report and upon completion of the enquiry charged him for one count of cruelty to a child.
