A 39-year-old man has been charged for the offence of robbery with aggravation, following an incident which occurred in Santa Cruz on June 18th, 2020.
Official police reports state that ANTON OTIS SAMUEL, of Laventille Extension, Morvant, was formally charged with the offence on June 23rd, 2020.
Samuel appeared at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court the following day, however, the matter was postponed to July 22nd, 2020.
According to police reports, one Glock 30 pistol, belonging to the victim, a police officer, also was recovered on July 3rd, 2020, and taken for analysis.
The victim reported standing in his yard after exiting his vehicle when he was approached by an armed, masked individual, who demanded cash. The victim reportedly attempted to draw his licensed firearm when it was taken by a second suspect. The suspects escaped in a waiting car after taking a sum of cash from the victim’s vehicle.
The car was later intercepted, however, there was only one suspect found in the vehicle, who was arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
