Man charged with sexual assault against stepdaughter denied bail

A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with seven counts of sexual penetration and one count of grievous sexual assault to his stepdaughter. He appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate yesterday and was denied bail. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:

A 44-year-old man who appeared virtually before a Princes Town Magistrate yesterday charged with seven counts of sexual penetration and one count of grievous sexual assault to his stepdaughter was denied bail.

The accused is expected to reappear before the court on November 22nd, 2021.

The man was arrested and charged by W/Cpl (Ag.) Chance, of the Southern Child Protection Unit (CPU), on October 24th, following a police report in August of alleged child sexual abuse.

According to the report, on several occasions during the period December 31st 2013 and August 1st 2020, a girl was at a house in South Trinidad where a man known to her allegedly made her perform various sexual acts with him.

An investigation, spearheaded by W/Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne and supervised by Insp Knutt of the Southern CPU, resulted in the charges being laid against the suspect.
