One man was arrested and a firearm and ammunition were seized during an Anti-Crime Exercise in Malabar yesterday.
According to police reports, acting on information that a man was armed with a firearm standing at Corner of Malabar Road and Banyan Boulevard, Malabar officers proceeded to the area and observed the suspect holding a white plastic bag in company with another man.

Upon seeing the officers, the suspect ran east along Banyan Boulevard and the other man ran west along Malabar Road. The officers gave chase and the suspect was held a short distance away, whilst the other man escaped.
Upon searching the plastic bag held by the suspect officers found a brown and black revolver with four rounds of .38 ammunition.

The items were seized and the suspect was arrested. The exercise was co-ordinated by Ag. Snr Supt Ramkhelawan, ASP Gyan, Ag. Insp Pitt and supervised by Ag. Cpl Gordon, and included a party of officers of the Major Operations Unit.
