The body of a man was found in a drain off Readymix Private Road, Laventille, yesterday. However, the identity and exact cause of the man’s death remained a mystery to police.
Residents told police they heard several gunshots and when they checked they found the bloodied body of a man in the drain at around 9 am.
It was initially believed that he had been shot dead but when the District Medical Officer arrived he could not find any gunshot or stab wounds, prompting suspicion that the man had been beaten to death. A post mortem to confirm the cause of death was not done yesterday, as the man had not yet been identified.
The deceased was of African descent with short curly hair and was dressed in a white vest and blue jeans. Anyone with information on the dead man is asked to contact the police at 555, 999 or 911.
