Man given hard labour for cultivating marijuana

A 34-year old labourer from Erin was sentenced to two months’ hard labour after appearing virtually before Magistrate Aden Stroude at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, to face charges for the offence of cultivating marijuana.

A 34-year old labourer from Erin was sentenced to two months’ hard labour after appearing virtually before Magistrate Aden Stroude at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, to face charges for the offence of cultivating marijuana.

Kelly Junior Lall, of Arena Village, Erin, was arrested and charged on Sunday 26th July 2020.

According to official police reports, officers went to an area located near Partap Trace, Arena Village, Erin, where they observed the suspect standing near his home, among some vegetation.

Further investigation revealed a total of forty-nine (49) fully-grown marijuana trees, planted in the ground as well as in several containers on the property.

Investigations were conducted by Cpls Lake and Prince, WPC Hospedales and members of the South Western Division Task Force.
