A 37 year old labourer was sentenced to two years hard labour after being found guilty of warehouse break-in.
SHARAAZ MOHAMMED, AKA BONNIE, 37, a Labourer of Monohar Maharaj Trace, Barrackpore, appeared virtually before Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today.
According to the TTPS, Mohammed was charged following an investigation into a report of a supermarket’s warehouse being broken into. At 8pm on Tuesday20th July, 2021, the manager of the Family Mart Supermarket secured the building and left. Around 10pm on the said day, he was informed by the security officer that the warehouse was broken into. The man contacted the Police who visited the scene.
Officers of the Barrackpore Police Station noted a door open and wooden ladder against the northern wall. They also observed that the locks on the door were broken and several CCTV cameras were disabled. PC Harripersad continued enquiries and later arrested and charged MOHAMMED for the offence.
Upon his arrest MOHAMMED was found to be in possession of cocaine and was charged for the offence. He was sentenced to two years hard labour after pleading guilty to the charges.
