Investigations are continuing into the attempted murder of a man at the corner of George and Queen Janelle Commissiong Streets in Port-of-Spain, today.

The victim was identified as Triston ‘Max’ Thomas of Clifton Hill Street, St Paul Street.

According to a police report, at about 11:40 am on Wednesday August 11th, Thomas was in the company of a woman of Clifton Street in East Dry River, at the Trinity Grocery at the corner of George and Queen Janelle Commissiong Street.  The couple normally go there every Wednesday to pick up goods.

Guardian Media understands that the woman left Thomas and went to the Park and Shop facilities located on Queen Penny Commissiong Street.

While on her way there, she saw two men talking to Thomas and a short while after, she heard several gunshots and was informed that Thomas was shot.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers saw Thomas slumped behind the driver’s seat of a black Navara. There was a gunshot wound to his head.

He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by members of the Port of Spain Task Force.

He is said to be in critical condition at hospital.
