Man injured in accident in stable condition

An unidentified man who was knocked down while attempting to cross the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in El Socorro on Monday, is said to be in a stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

An unidentified man who was knocked down while attempting to cross the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in El Socorro on Monday, is said to be in a stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

According to a police report, at about 4:30 pm on Monday February 14th, a motor vehicle was proceeding east along the highway occupying the lane to the extreme right in the vicinity of the El Socorro traffic lights, when the driver saw someone wearing dark clothing suddenly appear before him.

The driver of the motor vehicle applied his brakes; however, the pedestrian reportedly froze in the middle of the road and the motor vehicle came into contact with him.  The accident resulted in damage to the vehicle and injuries to the pedestrian.

The injured man was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital to seek medical attention.

Police told Guardian Media the pedestrian is in stable condition, but unresponsive.
