Man jailed for stealing chickens

A 41 year old man of Blanchisseuse Road, Arima, was sentenced to one year imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to stealing chickens from a farmer.

Siew-Persad Ramdass, also called “Pope” was arrested by officers of the Praedial Larceny Squad on Saturday.

The Police Service said around 9:30 am, officers of the Praedial Larceny Squad responded to a report that a man was seen on the property of a farmer at Blanchisseuse Road.

A party of officers including PC Jackson, PC Jackson and WPC Taylor-Ali responded and arrested Ramdass who was found with several chickens in a white crocus bag.

He was taken to the Arima Police Station where he was officially charged by WPC Ali.
