Man killed in police-involved shooting in Valencia

An unidentified man was killed during an alleged police-involved shooting in Valencia on Wednesday afternoon.

Three of the unidentified man’s accomplices also were arrested in the same incident.

According to a police report, just after 2 pm, officers of the Northern Division went to Balisier Trace to execute a search warrant.

Police said upon arriving at the premises, they were shot at, forcing them to return fire.

One man was hit. He was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the scene, police recovered and seized two weapons—an AK-47 and an AR-15—along with an assortment of ammunition and several marijuana trees.

The three men who were arrested at the scene currently are in police custody, assisting with the investigations.

Up to press time, the name of the victim was not disclosed.
