One man was killed, and a pistol and quantity of ammunition recovered, following a police-involved shooting in Cocorite.
Officers of the Western Division Task Force were conducting an exercise around 1:20 pm yesterday when they proceeded to the residence of a wanted man.
According to police reports, officers surrounded the house and announced their presence. The suspect then pointed a firearm through a window at the officers and fired two shots at them. Officers, in accordance with the Use of Force policy, returned fire and quickly gained entry into the house. There, they observed the suspect suffering from gunshot wounds about the body. He was taken to the St. James Medical Complex for treatment, where he died. A Glock 19 pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition was recovered from the scene. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Lyndon Mohammed. Investigations are ongoing.
