Man shot by cops, illegal gun seized

A 40-year-old man was shot by police officers in Port-of-Spain on Friday morning.

It is alleged that he pointed a gun at them.

According to a police report, at about 10 am members of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) were on patrol near Charford Courts, east Port-of-Spain when they saw a man of interest to them.

The officers attempted to stop him but he allegedly turned around and pointed a gun at them instead.

The officers drew their weapons and opened fire on the man.

He was shot in the right wrist and right thigh.

He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and remains in a stable condition under police guard.

Police said they recovered and seized a pistol with two rounds of ammunition on the scene.
