A man was killed in an alleged police-involved shooting in Carapo on Monday night.

He has been identified as Roger Cabie.

Details are still sketchy but Guardian Media understands that at about 7.45 pm, police officers who were on an exercise in the area in search of drugs along Simon Road approached Cabie.

It is alleged that Cabie pointed a gun at the officers after a brief conversation. The officers allegedly opened fire on him, killing him on the scene.

Police said Cabie was known to them.

Residents described Cabie as the “Wasa man” and said he was politically-inclined and was thinking about running as a councillor in the last Local Government election.
