A man who was shot in the head while sitting in his vehicle at the corner of George and Queen Janelle Commissiong Streets in Port-of-Spain on Wednesday has died. The victim was identified as Triston ‘Max’ Thomas of Clifton Hill Street, St Paul Street.

According to a police report, at about 11:40 am Thomas was in company with a woman of Clifton Street East Dry River, at the Trinity Grocery at the corner of George and Queen Janelle Commissiong Street as they usually go there every Wednesday to pick up goods, when she left him and went to the Park and Shop facilities located on Queen Penny Commissiong Street.

While on her way there she saw two men talking to Thomas and a short while after heard several gunshots and was informed that Thomas was shot.
Upon arrival, police officers saw Thomas slumped behind the driver’s seat of a black Navara. There was a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by members of the POS Task Force where he was treated and warded in a critical condition.
Police confirmed that Thomas succumbed to his injury on Thursday morning.
