A 24-year-old Valencia man who was shot while conducting mechanical repairs on a vehicle in Arima on Tuesday night, has succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

According to a police report, at about 11:05 pm, Kaylon Mayers, of Benny Trace, Valencia, was at Punnette Avenue on Pinto Road in Arima assisting a friend with repairs on a gold Toyota Corolla NZE.  The vehicle was parked in the driveway of his friend’s house while the repairs were being done.

Reports are that two masked men, both armed with firearms, came from behind a house and shot at him multiple times.  Mayers collapsed to the ground.

He was taken to the Arima District Hospital for treatment; however, he died later of his injuries.

The suspects in the shooting are still at large.
