Man surrenders to police after stabbing leaves one dead

A 19-year-old man surrendered to the police after he stabbed a man to death and wounded another on Thursday evening.

According to a police report, around 6:35 pm, the suspect of Valencia was walking along the Valencia Old Road when on reaching Paradise Lane he got into an altercation with two brothers identified as Christopher “Jojo” Ollivierre, 20, and Jason “Max” Ollivierre, 19, both of Paradise Lane.

According to the police, the suspect is said to have then pulled a knife from his waist and dealt Christopher a stab wound to the chest and also stabbed Jason in the stomach area.

The suspect then left the scene on foot and shortly after went to the Valencia Police Post where he surrendered himself.

Both victims were taken to the Sangre Grande Police Hospital where Christopher was pronounced dead around 7 pm.

ASP Fitzworme, Ag Insp Simon, Ag Insp Ramkissoon, Sgts Scipio and Leon and a party of officers from the Valencia Police Post and Eastern Division Task Force visited the scene.

PC Tilbance, PC Ramansar and WPC Edwards assigned to the Homicide Bureau visited the scene and recovered a knife a short distance away from where the actual stabbings occurred.

The suspect remains in police custody and is being questioned by investigators.
