The manhunt continues for Nigel Mungroo, the prisoner who escaped the Golden Grove compound on Saturday September 11th, at around 5:00 pm.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service is said to be working closely with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to apprehend Nigel Mungroo in the shortest time possible.
People are asked not to approach Mungroo, as he is considered armed and dangerous. Mungroo was awaiting trial for murder and has been in custody since 2015.
According to the Prison Service, Mungroo, who was housed at the Remand Prison at the time of his escape, had complained of feeling unwell and was being escorted to the Infirmary when he made a dash for the perimeter fence in the vicinity of Waterloo Road, Arouca.
The search for him has been ongoing since Saturday evening.
Mungroo is said to be 5 feet 4 inches in height with a slim build, and brown in complexion. He has a scar on his nose, the word ‘Nigel’ is tattooed on his neck, and there are several small scars about his arms.
He was last seen wearing a black and white jersey, black pants and a pair of slippers.
His last known address is 34A Crawford Branch Trace, Penal.
The authorities are asking anyone with information about escaped prisoner Nigel Mungroo to contact the nearest police station, call 999, or contact the Prison Service at 642-4202 or 800-PRSN (800-7776).
