Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred in the Maracas Bay area earlier this morning, in which one man was shot and wounded.
Investigators told Guardian Media that the shooting happened shortly after 10 a.m.
Police say the 31-year-old victim, identified as Gary Jadoo, was standing near a vegetable stall not far from his home when a car pulled up and a gunman opened fire.
Jadoo, of Upper Hamilton Trace, Borrow Road, Old Bay, Maracas, was shot in the back as he attempted to run from his attackers.
The wounded man was later taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He currently is warded in stable but serious condition.
Investigators say they have not been able to ascertain a motive for the shooting at this time.
