Mason charged with plumber’s murder

A 54-year-old mason is expected to appear virtually before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, after he was charged with the murder of Nazrudeen Mohammed, which occurred on 28th January 2022.

A 54-year-old mason is expected to appear virtually before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, after he was charged with the murder of Nazrudeen Mohammed, which occurred on 28th January 2022.

A release from the Police Service reports that ASHRAM MAHARAJ, also called Harper, of Toco Main Road, Toco, was charged with murder on Tuesday 1st March 2022, following the advice of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Ms. Joan Honore-Paul.

The TTPS says Nazrudeen Mohammed, of Windy Hill, Arouca, was employed to do plumbing on a building located at Las Lomas, and temporarily resided at the job site along with a co-worker. Around 9.30 pm on Friday January 28th, both men reportedly got into an altercation. After the alleged incident, Mohammed was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he succumbed to injuries allegedly sustained during the altercation.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region Three Office), together with Sgt (Ag.) Donny Bridgemohan continued investigations into Nazrudeen Mohammed’s death.

Following interviews with several persons and the gathering of evidence, the Police Service says the accused, Ashram Mohammed was arrested and charged with murder by Sgt (Ag.) Donny Bridgemohan.

The investigation was spearheaded by Superintendent (Ag.) Sean Dhillpaul, and supervised by Insp Anil Maharaj.
