The Atlantic tropical wave which the Met Service has been monitoring for the last couple of days, is a little closer to the Lesser Antilles.
An advisory issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) this morning, notes that The system is located approximately 800 km east of the Windward Islands, centred near 13N 54W. It is moving westward near 25 km per hour.
“The system has a 20% (low) chance of development over the next 48 hours,” the TTMS says in the advisory. “Current analyses suggest that on its projected track, activity associated with the Tropical Wave is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday 14th October 2020.”
The Met Service warns that this tropical wave is expected to produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall across portions of the Northern Windward and Leeward islands from the evening of Wednesday 14th October 2020, and across Trinidad and Tobago from early morning on Thursday 15th October 2020.
The TTMS says it will continue to closely monitor this system and will issue an update at 10 am tomorrow or earlier, if the situation warrants.
