Education Minister Anthony Garcia is calling on private educational institutions to heed Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s call to close, this week.

In a press release issued Sunday, Garcia claimed that the ministry was aware that some private schools had indicated that they would open tomorrow morning despite the week-long shutdown of public schools and learning institutions due to COVID-19 pandemic, announced on Friday.

Garcia said: “These measures have been instituted to safeguard our population from the risk of contracting COVID-19. Principals must recognise that they have the ultimate responsibility of acting in the best interest of all students and stakeholders.”

The ministry encouraged principals, parents, and stakeholders to utilise ICT infrastructure and resources, recently boosted by it, to effectively manage their individual situations.
