Nurses at the Sangre Grande EHC receive stock of COVID-19 vaccines.

The Ministry of Health is set to continue its COVID-19 vaccination programme tomorrow at 21 approved sites, with the batch of vaccines received from the COVAX facility.

According to a release from the Ministry of Health yesterday, this is “part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic.”

The vaccination programme is being done in conjunction with the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs).

The first batch of 33,600 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in the country last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, between 4 pm on April 3 and 4 pm yesterday, a total of 42 new positive cases were recorded.

This figure brought the total number of positive cases from March 12, 2020 to present, to 8,178.

There are currently 385 active cases.

The number of deaths remained at 145 yesterday.

The number of recovered patients now stands at 7,648; while 33 persons are hospitalized.

There are currently seven persons at step-down facilities; with 349 at state quarantine facilities; and 303 persons in home isolation.
