The unidentified maxi-taxi passenger, who was killed in a crash along the bus route on Wednesday, has been identified as 59-year-old Nicholas Beepath of St James.

Beepath was reported missing by relatives yesterday morning, as they appealed to the public for assistance in locating him.

However, his body was positively identified by relatives who went to the funeral home after they heard the news of the deadly crash and details of what the unidentified accident victim was wearing.

Beepath worked as a paddock manager at the Arima Race Club.

He was on his way home from work when the accident occurred on Wednesday.

He was clad in a blue shirt, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of brown shoes.

According to a police report, at about 3.30 pm, in the vicinity of VMCOTT, a red-band maxi, in which Beepath was a passenger, was proceeding in a westerly direction when it collided with another maxi that was proceeding in the opposite direction.

Police said the two drivers sustained severe injuries and were taken to hospital.

Beepath, who was the back seat passenger, was killed on impact.

Beepath was the 11th person to have died from a vehicular accident this year so far.
