A 13-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister who allegedly ran away from their Longdenville home on Monday evening were found yesterday morning.
According to a man who identified himself as the children’s uncle, the two were found with a family of strangers by police on Tuesday morning.
The man, who did not give his name, told Guardian Media in a brief interview that the children ran away on Monday because they were frustrated.
On Monday evening, a post with photos of both children was circulated on social media sites, as the public was urged to help find them.
The man said the children have a sister who is hospitalised and both of their parents were busy between the hospital and their home.
He said he believes the children were trying to get to his Felicity home around 6.30 pm on Monday when they ran into difficulties.
He said they were assisted by ‘some people’ who housed them for the night.
The man said police were interviewing the children yesterday afternoon.
Guardian Media reached out to the Children’s Authority for comment and while the request was acknowledged, no response was forthcoming up to press time.
