The following is a press release from the Ministry of Education:

Education Minister, Dr. the Hon. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, and officials of the Ministry of Education met with the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) on Thursday April 7th, 2022, to discuss recommendations for the operations of schools with the full return students face to face classes.

TTUTA members made recommendations on a number of areas involving health and safety measures at schools, school infrastructure, the conduct of breaks, restrictions to whole school assemblies, and measures to support Principals and teachers in the mitigation of learning loss.

Also recommended was more communication on the expansion of the Adopt-a-School Initiative, whereby corporate citizens and communities are supporting schools in areas beyond device provision, to increase the assistance being given to schools.

TTUTA also sought clarification on operational matters, such as the use of online attendance registers, clinical supervision and the progress of digitization of teacher Human Resource records.

The Ministry of Education thanks TTUTA for their recommendations, which are being examined, and will communicate with all stakeholders, through the usual channels, any clarifications or additional information as the operations of school resume.
